# SaaS Branding Agency — Brand Identity for SaaS and Developer Tool Companies

> SaaS brands live in the product, not on a billboard. The logo sits in a 32-pixel nav, the colour system has to survive dark mode, and the type has to read in a data table. Happy Pizza Studio is a SaaS branding agency that designs for that first, and the conference booth second.

## Branding that developers don't roll their eyes at

Developers can smell a brand built by people who've never opened a terminal. We've been CodeRabbit's design partner for over a year: logo redesign, merch, out-of-home, all running from one system. Zed, Appsmith and MotherDuck are on the client list for the same reason. The work has to feel native to the people who'll use the product.

## Design tokens, not just a PDF

Every package ships a design.md and a token file alongside the logo files. Your front-end team gets colour, type and spacing as variables they can import, so the marketing site and the app stop drifting apart. Guidelines are short enough that someone actually reads them.

## Positioning for a crowded category

Most SaaS categories have forty logos on a G2 grid and half of them are blue. Switchfrog detects AI agents in a customer's browser and sells it as revenue tooling, so we built a brand that refuses to look like a security product. Sparkles wanted a dev tool brand as bold as the name, so it got one.

## This is for you if

- You're a SaaS or developer tool company at seed to Series B with a product people already use.
- Your marketing site, app and docs look like three different companies.
- You're about to launch, raise or hire, and the brand is undercutting the product.
- Your logo was made in the first week and has never been touched since.

## It's not for you if

- You're looking for a SaaS marketing agency to run paid ads or write the blog. We build the brand; we'll point you at people who do the rest.
- You want a logo by Friday for $200. That's a different service and it's not us.

## Seen in

- [CodeRabbit](https://happypizza.studio/work/coderabbit) — Dev Tools / Brand, 2025. CodeRabbit needed a visual identity that felt native to the dev community. We've been their design partner for over a year: merch, logo redesign, OOH, the works.
- [Sparkles](https://happypizza.studio/work/sparkles) — SaaS / Brand, 2026. The dev tool for everyone else. Sparkles needed a brand as bold as the name.
- [Databuddy](https://happypizza.studio/work/databuddy) — Analytics / Brand, 2026 · Y Combinator-backed. The new web analytics kid on the block. Funded by Y Combinator and looking to elevate their visuals from hobby project to funded startup.
- [Switchfrog](https://happypizza.studio/work/switchfrog) — Agent Detection / Brand, 2026. Switchfrog detects AI agents driving a customer's logged-in browser, and sells it as revenue tooling, not security. So it couldn't look like a security product. An S and an F drawn as one form that resolves into a frog, a serif wordmark, and a banknote green.

## Questions

**What is SaaS branding?**

The identity system a software company runs on: logo and mark, colour, typography, illustration or motion where it earns its place, and the rules for using them across the product, the marketing site, docs and swag. For SaaS it also has to work as code, which is why we ship design tokens with every package.

**How is a SaaS branding agency different from a general one?**

The deliverables are built for software first. The mark is tested at favicon size before it's tested on a tote bag. Colour is picked to hold up in light and dark mode. Type is chosen for UI density, not a magazine spread. And the handover is a design.md and tokens, not a Figma archaeology project.

**Which SaaS companies have you branded?**

CodeRabbit (ongoing design partner), Sparkles, Databuddy (YC), Conare, Switchfrog, Hacktron and DeepTrace (YC), plus work for Zed, Appsmith, MotherDuck and Zeropath.

**How much does SaaS branding cost?**

Identity packages run from $10,000 (Essentials: logo suite, colour, type, guidelines and design tokens) to $20,000 (Enterprise: the full system with motion, illustration and an event package). Growth sits between at $13,500 and adds merch and ad creatives. Brand strategy on its own is $2,500. Projects are split 50% to kick off and 50% on delivery, and nothing is due until you've approved the proposal.

**Do you design the product UI as well?**

We set the visual direction for the product (Sparkles got UI direction alongside the identity) and hand over tokens your team can build from. We don't ship the full product design system or front-end code.

**How long does SaaS branding take?**

Essentials ships in 2–3 weeks from brief sign-off. Growth takes 3–4 weeks, Enterprise 5–6 weeks. Two rounds of revisions are included; most clients sign off in round one. Hacktron's full brand system took under two weeks.
