Branding Agency for Small Business — Logo, Identity and Guidelines
Our day job is startups. But some of the best brands we've built were for companies with one location, one product and a founder who cared more than any VC would. If you run a small business with a point of view, this page is for you.
Small business, same standard
You get the process a funded startup gets: a discovery call, a one-page brief with scope, timeline and cost, two rounds of revisions and a handover with every file in every format. The difference is the scale, not the standard. Cablescan is a 20-year-old logistics company that wanted to look as serious as the problem it solves; it got a rebrand built for the next 20 years.
The categories we keep an eye out for
Breweries, coffee roasters and cafés, skate shops and brands, independent game studios, and anyone in animal preservation or space. They're on our request-for-clients list because that's where the weird, memorable identities are still expected. If you're one of them, we make room in the calendar.
What you'll walk away with
A primary and secondary logo, a colour system, a typography system and short usage guidelines, so the next person who makes a menu, a sign or an Instagram post doesn't have to guess. Merch design is available on top: tees, caps, stickers and the kind of swag customers actually wear.
THIS IS FOR YOU IF
- You've outgrown the logo a friend made when you opened.
- You're opening a second location, launching a product line or going wholesale, and the brand needs to hold up.
- Your signage, website and packaging were all made by different people and it shows.
- You want a brand with some edge, not a template.
IT'S NOT FOR YOU IF
- You need a logo for $200 by Friday. Plenty of places do that; we're not one of them.
- You want a full marketing agency to run ads and socials. We build the brand and hand it over.

Questions
How much does a branding agency charge a small business?
Our Essentials package is $10,000 and covers the full identity: logo suite, colour, type and guidelines. Brand strategy (positioning, naming, messaging) is $2,500 on its own. Merch design starts at $5,500. Payment is 50% to kick off and 50% on delivery.
Is $10,000 a lot for a small business?
It's the price of a brand that doesn't need redoing in two years. If the budget isn't there yet, the Founder Brand Teardown ($1,200) gives you a recorded review of what you've got and a prioritised fix list, and the fee credits toward any project booked within 30 days.
Do you do logo design on its own?
No. A logo without colour, type and rules is a logo someone will misuse by next month. The Essentials package is the smallest thing we sell, because it's the smallest thing that holds up.
Can you help with the name?
Yes, naming is part of Brand Strategy. Brumby came to us as GrazeMate, a name born in university, and left renamed and rebranded in three weeks.
Do you work with businesses outside Austin?
Yes. Most of our clients are remote; Austin is where we are, not where the work stops.
How long does a small business branding project take?
Essentials ships in 2–3 weeks from brief sign-off. Growth takes 3–4 weeks, Enterprise 5–6 weeks. Two rounds of revisions are included; most clients sign off in round one. Hacktron's full brand system took under two weeks.
Heard enough?
LET'S TALK15 minutes. No brief needed. You'll leave with scope, timeline and a cost on one page.
